'First episodes are in my inbox' Outlander scripts arrive as stars gear up for season 7

It seems the Outlander cast and crew are going all out to keep the Droughtlander from our doors. Even though season six doesn’t officially hit our screens until early next year – they’ve confirmed they are already starting working on the next season of the hit show.

In what is sure to be (pipe?) music to fans’ ears, Caitriona Balfe has just confirmed 2022 will be a bumper year for filming with the script for the first two episodes having already landed in her inbox.

Speaking on the Josh Horowitz’s ‎Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cait said: “The first two eps are in my inbox so it’s exciting, we’re gearing up to get back on it. It’ll be a tough one, we’ll be shooting for a whole year.

“So in the words of Dougal McKenzie, we’re going to gird our loins.”

Comedian Josh, who is a huge fan of the show, referred to the fact the new season is set to be the biggest since season one, and asked if Cait was ready to get back on set.

The Irish star joked that when the first two scripts landed she was up at 3.30 am feeding her son, so she was feeling a bit cross-eyed when trying to read the scripts.

The pair then joked that she might need some of co-star Sam’s energy.

When Josh asked what he’ll be up to during filming, Cait added: “Sam’ll probably be on his seventh almanac at that point. He’s an energizer bunny… I’m like, ‘Where do you get your energy from, and please send some this way!'”

The Belfast star recently admitted she’s been trying to direct an episode of Outlander for a while and is sad she’s not yet had the chance.

She stated that she’s not sure if she’ll be able to do so in season 7 but “would love to”.
