Everyone is making the same Brendan Fraser joke as Egyptian mummy’s tomb is opened for the first time in 2,500 years

Brendan Fraser has jumped back into the public consciousness after a 2,500-year-old sealed coffin was opened.

It was one of nearly 30 sarcophagi to be discovered in Saqqara, south of Cairo in early September.

Astonishingly the brightly-painted coffins have remained intact and undisturbed – until now.

The event has triggered everyone to make the same joke about the actor who starred in 1999 adventure film The Mummy, about a mummy that wreaks destruction after a man awakens it during an archealogical dig.

Reacting to the news on Twitter, many hoped that Brendan’s swashbuckling hero Rick O’Connell won’t be needed to save the world.

But maybe we should have the guy on standby just in case?
