EMMERDALE fans fear that Ellis’ brother Billy will be written out of the show after actor Asan N’jie was fired yesterday.
In the wake of the furore, fans of the Dales have been left worrying that his on-screen family; Jay Kontzle, who plays Ellis’ brother Billy, and Michael Chapman, who plays dad Al, will be axed.
Viewers have been left fearing about the characters especially since actress Sandra Marvin, who plays Ellis’ mum Jessie, has exited the show.
Taking to Twitter, viewers speculated on what will happen to his brother and dad, especially since Emmerdale have not yet confirmed when Asan last scenes will air.
One penned: “I wonder if what happened at the TV awards will affect the actor that plays Ellis’s brother.
“With Jessie leaving too I’m wondering how they will keep him in without his family. Would be a shame for the guy if he was written out aswell.”
“#Emmerdale so is Billy gonna be staying when Jessie & now Ellis goes,” another shared.
A third wrote: “I wonder how Billy will vacate #Emmerdale now he has been sacked? My guess is he will go down the shop to get a paper and no one will ever see him again.”
The speculation comes a day after Emmerdale sacked Asan after he was filmed threatening to “knife” and “kill” Jamie Lomas.
The Sun exclusively revealed the shocking details of their bust-up at the TV Choice Awards in London earlier in the week.
Pictures and footage of the row between Asan and Jamie, 44, showed the pair squaring up to one another Asan was recorded threatening to “knife” him.
The decision to terminate Asan’s contract was taken following a meeting yesterday.
A spokesperson confirmed the news and said in a statement: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.
“ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”
Asan issued a grovelling apology and said in a statement: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.
“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”
A source told The Sun: “Asan is full of remorse for actions and knows he acted in a foolish and idiotic manner. He knows he has thrown away what would have been a successful career on one of TV’s biggest shows.
“He doesn’t the use of knives or violence and said he has no idea what he was thinking.”
Following the incident, Asan had told pals he would “get down on his hands and knees and beg” to keep his job.
Asan, who joined the ITV soap last year, became embroiled in a row with Jamie after the ceremony at London’s Hilton Park Lane hotel.
The dispute, which is said to involve money, is believed to have been started by Asan – who was heard goading Jamie.
As the atmosphere turned toxic, the young star had to be restrained and could be heard shouting: “Do you think you are a f***ing big man, I’m going to f***ing kill you.”
He also shouted: “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”
Jamie was seen being bundled away from Asan by pals as he shouted the taunts.
Asan was then removed from the hotel by security and was called in for a meeting with the show’s bosses.
On the night Asan had been nominated in the Best Soap Newcomer category but lost out to child star,Kara-Leah Fernandes, 12, who plays Bailey Baker in EastEnders.
