Amid his road to recovery after battling with slipped discs, Eamonn Holmes has revealed while he’s still reliant on crutches he’s slowly but surely making progress.

The ITV star shared another update with fans on Friday as he was seen doing a series of exercises under the watchful eye of his trainer, as he essentially ‘learned how to walk’ again.

Eamonn worried fans earlier this year when he revealed he was in hospital and seeking treatment over health issues, later sharing he’d suffered ‘three slipped discs’ and was getting around on a crutch, as well as taking steroid injections to ease the pain.

Since then he’s kept fans up to date with his recovery, not dancing around the fact he had been in immense pain as doctors worked to get to the root of the cause.

He said in a clip uploaded to his Twitter: ‘Okay I’m still crutch dependent and the idea is to get rid of this and the man that’s going to get rid of this for me is this man James Davis!’

Eamonn then brought in James, a physiotherapist, who said he had been ‘treating Eamonn for a couple of weeks’ during the ‘rehab stage’ of his recovery as they showed off his exercises as well as the funky ‘pressure socks’ the presenter dons.

As he executed leg raises and squats with the aid of James, the This Morning guest host said: ‘This all looks very simple and it is very simple except it’s like learning to walk again.

‘I’ve lost nerves in my right leg and there’s certain actions I can’t do so even the most simple thing is hard but it’s getting better.’

In his quest to get back to his best, Eamonn has employed the use of ‘circulation boosters’ as well as ice cold showers to help alleviate his painful symptoms.

He’d earlier shared an update with fans following another rehab appointment, telling his Twitter followers earlier in the week: ‘Another session of Physio rehab – feels like I’m making progress – slowly but surely.

‘Chronic Pain now gone because of Steroid injections – Thank God.’

He’s still got a long way to go, however, as he continued: ‘Got to strengthen my back now. Small steps, literally. But feeling positive. Thanks for sharing your stories.’

Open about the reality of living with chronic pain, Eamonn previously told the Irish Independent he was ‘hurting like hell’ with people battling to find the solution.

He said: ‘Nobody knows what it’s like unless they live with someone who has it. I’m in huge pain and nobody knows how to stop it.

‘This hurts like hell and I need to find a way to overcome it. It has lasted a month and it feels like I can’t remember what life was like without the pain.’
