Dupes of the sell-out Clinique Black Honey lipstick that’s a TikTok favourite

Last year we all went crazy for brown lipstick, echoing the Y2K trends filling our high street stores.

Now, however, it appears there’s a new kid on the block, and it’s just as retro and just as flattering.

Clinique’s Black Honey Almost Lipstick has hit TikTok in a big way, and is now sold out on most retailers’ websites.

The colour is a sheer berry tone that flatters all skin tones and looks like a cross between a gloss and a lipstick.

A ‘barely there’ formula, it’s been a bestseller for decades, but is now so on trend that it’s impossible to get hold of.

If you’re desperate to try but can’t get your hands on the real deal, give these dupes a go. Most are cheaper than Clinique’s £18.50 formula, and are available now.

E.L.F. Sheer Stick Lipstick in Black Cherry

E.L.F. are one of the GOAT brands for low-priced products that stand up against those way more expensive.

Their Sheer Stick lipstick in Black Cherry is a dead ringer for Clinique’s colour-wise, and reviews online suggest it has just as smooth and silky a texture.

Better still? This one’s only £5 from Boots.

Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia

Because of how light the colour is in Black Honey, you’re not looking for a full-coverage lippy here, and instead can opt for a more subtle look.

At just £5.99, this Burt’s Bees offering gives you the benefits of its waxes and oils alongside a just-bitten hue.

Nivea Lip Balm in Cherry Shine

Many US dupe-hunters recommended Nivea lip balm in Blackberry Shine. Unfortunately that isn’t a shade stocked over here in the UK, but this one appears to be extremely close.

At just £1.42 it’s great for those on a budget, plus you can trial out Cherry Shine before investing in Clinique Black Honey once it’s back in stores.

£1.42, Superdrug.

Glossier Ultralip in Ember

Always ahead of the trends, Glossier launched its new lip product in May this year, promising a semi-opaque, glossy look thanks to three different oils in the formula.

The deep mauve shade, Ember, might seem a little bright in the tube, but becomes soft-focus like Black Honey in a swipe.

£14, Glossier.

NYX Butter Gloss in Cranberry Pie

Add a little less than usual for a sheer look (Picture: Boots)

Although it is a gloss, the NYX Butter Gloss is loved for how it doesn’t appear (or feel) at all sticky and overly shiny.

You can try the colour on on the website’s ‘live camera’ feature, but remember, recreate the Black Honey look, you’ll be applying a little less product than normal.

£5.50, Boots.
