Nash created blueprints for the sprawling countryside estate and construction began in 1794.

Now the property, called Ffynone, is up for sale for £2 million in the village of Boncath near Cardigan, West Wales.

Nash was known for being architect to the royals and designed terraces that surround Regent’s Park in London.

He also re-landscaped St James’s Park – turning a canal into the present lake that is there today.

The architect was also employed to develop the Marine Pavilion in Brighton and transformed it into the Royal Pavilion.

The Grade I listed mansion is considered to be his “finest private work” across the border in Wales.

Buyers will get a master bedroom with a dressing room and en suite – and 12 more bedrooms with seven bathrooms.

If that wasn’t enough there’s a billiards room, a scullery and extensive cellars and store rooms.

The property comes with three self-contained flats, stables and greenhouses spread over 34.84 acres.

Colonel John Colby commissioned the build and it was based on a classical Georgian model.

The Colby family later employed architect and garden designer Inigo Thomas at the beginning of the 20th century.

The house was remodelled in the style of an Italian palazzo with two new wings – and 60,000 trees planted in the gardens.

Estate agents Savills said: “Ffynone is a magnificent Grade I listed mansion designed by the renowned architect John Nash.

“Most famous for the eponymous terraces that surround London’s Regents Park.

“Nash also spent a number of years working in Wales where Ffynone is widely considered to be his finest private work across the border, which he completed in 1799.”

The current owners bought the house in 1988 and have spent 30 years restoring it.
