By downplaying the virus so much and then claiming the pandemic is ending, Donald Trump looks stupider than ever now he’s a victim of Covid-19.
The deaths of more than 200,000 Americans had already proved him wrong.
However let’s hope voters now finally recognise that the US President, who once joked about the illness and regularly refused to wear a mask, is a dangerous liability.
Boris Johnson enjoyed sympathy when he was a casualty but Trump deserves little because of his trademark cavalier approach.
Probably nobody in the entire world did as much to spread potentially fatal misinformation as this ignorant President.
We of course wish him and wife Melania speedy and full recoveries, but for so dangerously dismissing Covid he must be sacked in November. America will be a safer country without the ailing fraud.
Test of a leader
Only disgraced SNP MP Margaret Ferrier knows why she recklessly endangered people by catching a train to Scotland after getting the results of a positive coronavirus test.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s forthright condemnation and call for one of her own to quit contrasts with Boris Johnson’s defence of Dominic Cummings.
His chief aide drove from London to County Durham while suffering possible symptoms.
Sturgeon exercised principled leadership while Johnson displayed none in defending Cummings for personal and party gain.
Once again the PM is made to look inferior. No wonder his authority is vanishing.
It Asda be fair
Blackburn billionaire boys Zuber and Mohsin Issa are buying Asda from US giant Walmart in a rags-to-riches epic.
As they enjoy the fruits of enormous wealth let’s hope they don’t forget where they come from … and reward hardworking staff who keep the supermarket in business.
