OK, so the pandemic may have turned your wedding and engagement plans on their head this year but if you’re engaged and still on the hunt for that princess wedding dress of your dreams, Disney, the actual makers of some of our favourite fairytales, have launched a wedding dress collection in the UK. Yes you did read that right. And no, they’re not fancy dress. In fact, we’ll go as far as saying they’re actually pretty chic.
The collection is called, rather aptly, Disney’s Fairy Tale Wedding, and is part of a collaboration with Allure Bridals and while it’s been around in the US and Canada since June, it has only just dropped here in the UK.
The tagline for the new line is “Designed with Happily Ever After in Mind” and the website tells brides-to-be, “Start the next chapter of your life in a dress beyond your imagination – one with magic in every thread.”
Named after some of Disney’s famous female characters, from Ariel, Belle and Cinderella to Jasmine, Rapunzel and Pocahontas , there are 16 gowns in total in sizes 0-30, with prices between £1,200 to £2,500.
If you’re after a mermaid-style gown, then Ariel (naturally) is the style for you, with its cascading layers of soft tulle and organza, sweetheart neckline and pearly beaded straps.
Or there’s the Belle-inspired gown, with a delicate fall, blooms of embroidered lace, sparkling seed beads and an off-the-shoulder neckline.
The Pocahontas is one for those wanting a simpler, figure-hugging silhouette, with cotton lace applique, spaghetti straps and buttons down the back of the gown.
Allure Bridals CEO Kelly Crum said in a statement, “So many brides grow up admiring their favourite Disney Princess characters and are inspired by their journeys, gowns and stories of the classic films.”
She added, “Our design team worked tirelessly on each of these incredible gowns, as each dress features intricate detailing specifically inspired by the timeless characters known and loved by all of us at Allure and Kleinfeld, as well as our brides. With the success of this 2020 collection in the United States, we are thrilled to expand this collection overseas.”
