Dele Alli looks to be moving closer to an exit from Tottenham after he was left out of this afternoon’s squad to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte’s side travel across London to face their city rivals, as they look to build on a dramatic win against Leicester City on Wednesday.

However, Alli will not feature against the Blues after he was left out of the 18-man squad by Conte.

The midfielder had hoped to resurrect his Tottenham career following Conte’s arrival but he’s made just eight Premier League starts this term and at the age of 25 he’s now minded to move elsewhere to play regular football.

Newcastle United have shown a keen interest in Alli and they’d offer the ex-England international a bigger chance of playing regular minutes, with Eddie Howe’s side battling relegation.

Spurs would prefer to allow Alli to leave on loan this month, rather than allowing him to seal a permanent exit.

However, offers have not exactly been forthcoming for the former MK Dons midfielder, who earns over £100,000-a-week in north London.

Today’s game is Spurs’ last until February 5th, meaning Alli will not play again until the window closes.

It’s possible that he has been left out in order to avoid injury, which could scupper any exit.
