David Arquette admitted that he’d like to apologise to his daughter Coco, 16, for making her experience her parents splitting up, as he admitted ‘divorce is so difficult’.

Arquette, 49, shares Coco with ex-wife Courteney Cox. He and Friends star Courteney tied the knot in 1999 and were together for a decade, before splitting in 2010.

The Scream actor was asked in a recent Q&A with the Guardian who he would ‘most like to say sorry to and why’, with Arquette feeling reflective as he chose his daughter Coco.

Suggesting that he is sorry she had to go through her parents splitting, Arquette said: ‘My daughter, Coco, because divorce is so difficult.’

Arquette is now married to Christina McLarty, who he shares two sons with; Charlie, six, and Augustus, three. He began dating Christina in 2011 and they married in 2015.

Courteney, meanwhile, is in a relationship with Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid, who she has been dating since 2013, and co-parents daughter Coco with her ex-husband.

Speaking of his amicable relationship with Courteney despite their split, Arquette previously told Yahoo! Entertainment: ‘We’re friends,’ crediting communication as the key.

‘We’ve communicated a lot because of Coco. Our daughter’s really great,’ he said.

‘There’s difficult parts, especially through teenage years, there’s a lot of emotions and feelings… we’ve just been really open and supportive of each other.’

Arquette continued: ‘We never went head-to-head or battled each other through the process of divorce and through the process of raising our kid, so it’s made for a friendship and relationship that is out of respect.’

He and Courteney met in 1996 while working on classic horror movie Scream.

Both stars are involved in the fifth Scream movie, which officially wrapped last year, with Courteney returning as Gale Weathers and Arquette reprising his role as Dewey Riley.

The movie took just months to film and will drop in January 2022.
