Dani Alves is in no doubt who the most skilful player is in the world: his former team-mate Neymar.

Alves, 37, played alongside the winger for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and the Brazil national team and is an admirer of the tricks he has in his locker.

And in a wide-ranging Q&A on his Instagram account, Alves – who now plays for Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo – was adamant that Neymar remains the most skilful player out there.

Asked if Neymar is most skilful player in world football right now, Alves simply replied: ‘Without a doubt.’

Discussing other topics, Alves picked former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi ahead of old Real Madrid rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the age old debate over who is better.

He named Sergio Ramos as the toughest defender he’s ever faced and hailed compatriot Cafu as the greatest right-back of all time. As for the smartest, he gave midfielder Xavi Hernandez the nod.

The Brazilian also lifted the lid on his exit from Barcelona – where he spent eight years of his career, racking up more than 400 appearances and winning six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues.

He moved to Juventus in 2016 and admitted he had no faith in the club’s hierarchy by the time he departed.

‘I did not believe in the leaders who were in charge in that moment,’ said Alves

Later it was proven that I was right. As I was the first person who said it, they called me crazy, but, as always…I am a good crazy!’
