Cyberpunk 2077 on PC gets fan-made third person mode

A whole new perspective (Pic: Nexus Mods)

A new mod lets Cyberpunk 2077 players on PC experience the game in third-person, though it’s still technically a work in progress.

While CD Projekt is issuing patches and fixes for all versions of Cyberpunk 2077, some PC fans have been making mods of their own to try and change or improve things.

One recent mod, created by a Jelle Baker, adds something entirely new to the game: a third-person mode.

Normally, Cyberpunk 2077 can only be played in first-person, but this new mod allows players to experience the adventure and the setting of Night City in a whole new way.

The mod can be downloaded via Nexus Mods, though it does require you to have downloaded another mod called Cyber Engine Tweaks, which includes multiple performance fixes of its own.

Once installed, simply pressing B will switch the camera from first-person to third-person and there are four different camera positions to cycle through.

There are also two different versions of the mod: one for the male V and for the female V.

The download page does clarify that this mod is still a work in progress, as can be seen in some sample footage from YouTuber Slothability.

There are very noticeable animation errors, with V’s arms twisting unnaturally when holding weapons and the lower half of their body contorts when swimming.

While it has been a massive sales success for CD Projekt, Cyberpunk 2077’s launch was mired with severe technical issues, especially on the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

This led to Sony removing the game from the PlayStation Store and CD Projekt is now facing a lawsuit from its own investors.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are planned for this year.
