Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Manchester United fans after substitute appearance at Chelsea

Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a rallying cry to Manchester United fans, telling them ‘nothing is impossible’ as they try and achieve their goals for the season after a draw at Chelsea on Sunday.

Ronaldo was, somewhat surprisingly, left on the bench at Stamford Bridge, but replaced United’s goal-scorer Jadon Sancho in the 64th minute of the 1-1 draw.

Given the form of the two sides, a draw for the Red Devils in west London is an encouraging result but it is also one that leaves them eighth in the Premier League table.

United are 12 points behind Sunday’s opponents, who sit top of the table, but only five points behind West Ham in fourth.

The final Champions League spot must be their most realistic goal for the rest of the season and Ronaldo has told fans that the team have no doubts they can achieve their aims.

The Portuguese superstar posted on Instagram: ‘There is still a long road ahead and nothing is impossible when you play for Man. United. We will keep chasing our goals until the end! 👊🏽 #MUFC.’

The Red Devils have a great chance to gain ground in the race for a Champions League spot on Thursday when they host Arsenal.

The Gunners sit fifth in the table after their comfortable 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday, level on 23 points with West Ham.

It is yet to be seen if new interim manager Ralf Rangnick will be in charge of the team or not by then, with his arrival imminent but still not complete, so Michael Carrick will be ready to lead the team for a third match if not.
