Cristiano Ronaldo had no hesitation in naming his overhead kick at Juventus as the greatest goal he has ever scored.
Ronaldo scored a spectacular bicycle kick against his current club when he featured for Real Madrid in the Champions League.
At the time, the goal was widely applauded by the Juventus fans – and it ultimately helped Ronaldo in his decision to move to Turin at the end of that season.
Ronaldo was asked about his favourite goal ever scored when he sat down for an emotional and wide-ranging interview with Piers Morgan on Tuesday night.
Morgan claimed that the overhead kick was his favourite Ronaldo goal of all-time.
The man himself agreed.
“I tried to score this goal for many, many years. I had scored 700-odd goals but I hadn’t done this. I thought ‘finally I had scored a bicycle, the beautiful jumping’.
“The way I had done against Buffon, against Juventus, in the Champions League. It was a beautiful goal.”
Morgan then asked whether scoring that goal was better than sex, to which Ronaldo set off chuckling.
“No, not with my Geo (Georgina, girlfriend),” he said in laughter.
There was a host of general football chat in the interview and Ronaldo also opened up on his relationship with Lionel Messi.
Or more so, how he would like to beat him to one lifetime record.
Asked which one record he wants to hold, he quickly responded: “Golden Balls (Ballon d’Or).
“I would love it and I think I deserve it.
“Messi is a fantastic guy, fantastic player. But I think to have six, seven or eight. I am more above him.”
