Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Manchester United and the Premier League at 36-year-old but he has no worries at all about his age, saying: ‘I’m different from the rest of the people.’

Ronaldo has joined the Red Devils for the second time in his career, signing from Juventus on a two-year contract after leaving Old Trafford for Real Madrid back in 2009.

It is a remarkable return for the Portuguese superstar, now a veteran of the sport and having cemented his place as one of the finest players in history.

He has shown no signs of slowing down, scoring 36 goals for Juventus last season and winning the Golden Boot at the European Championships over the summer.

Unsurprisingly, the uber-confident forward does not see his age as any sort of concern, insisting he is different from any other player who had turned 36 this year.

‘I’m here to win, people before speak about the age but they should understand and they know that I’m different, I’m different from the rest of the people,’ said Ronaldo, talking to Wes Brown in an interview on the Manchester United app.

‘I show that off all the time, year by year and this year will be the same. I know 100 per cent that I will do it good with the boys, with my teammates, the supporters will be on our side.

‘These supporters are special, I hope they can push the team when the team need it.

‘We will be here on the pitch to do our best and try to win important things.’

Ronaldo will return to the Manchester United team on Saturday against Newcastle United at Old Trafford in a 3pm kick-off.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be tempted to throw him straight into the starting XI but the Norwegian has plenty of options up front with Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Edinson Cavani all available and Ronaldo may have to settle for the substitutes’ bench on his first match back in red.
