Cristiano Ronaldo blasted as 'ignorant' and 'lacking respect' for Juve teammates

Cristiano Ronaldo has been blasted as ‘ignorant’ by former Juventus defender Pasquale Bruno, who accused the superstar of lacking respect for his team-mates.

Ronaldo helped Juve to a 4-1 win over Ferencvaros on Wednesday night, set up Alvaro Morata’s second goal as the Serie A giants stayed on course for the Champions League knockout stages.

The Portuguese star is widely regarded as one of the game’s greatest ever players, having won five Champions League titles and five Ballon d’Or awards during a trophy-laden career with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid and his current club.

Ronaldo has continued his form since switching to Turin in 2018, having scored 70 goals in 92 games and helped Juventus to successive Serie A titles.

But Bruno believes Ronaldo’s failure to learn the language since moving to Italy is disrespectful to both his team-mates and the country as a whole.

“He is ignorant,” the 58-year-old said during an appearance on Tiki Taka. “He has been in Italy for two years and has not yet learned to speak our language.

“He uses Spanish to express himself. He has no respect for his team-mates or for the Italians.”

But Juventus right-back Juan Cuadrado doesn’t appear to share Bruno’s view of Ronaldo, who scored twice in a 4-1 win over Spezia at the weekend after a two-week coronavirus lay-off.

Cuadrado said of his 35-year-old team-mate: “Ronaldo is very happy, he couldn’t wait to come back and play.

Ex-Juventus defender Pasquale Bruno also played for Scottish side Hearts

“You saw that from the moment he stepped onto the pitch [against Spezia].

“He’s an extra weapon for us, we all know what he gives to the team. He is very confident and that helps us too, passing on the professionalism and desire to win that we all ought to have.”

Juventus’s next game is away to Lazio on Sunday.
