The City of Edinburgh Council has approved a planning application for purpose-built student accommodation at Haymarket Yards.
The regeneration of 1,600 square metres of brownfield site that has lain derelict for many years is being undertaken by Ladybank Developments – a joint venture between GSS Developments and London and Scottish Property Investment Management.
The development will be made up of 153 studio apartments with internal and external amenities, including study spaces, gym, cinema, a private dining facility, roof terrace and shared gardens.
It will be managed 24/7 by an on-site team. The development will not feature a car parking, but will instead have space for 154 bikes.
A spokesperson for Ladybank Developments said: “The project regenerates an urban brownfield site that has sat vacant for many years to create a high- quality sustainable accommodation for students, meeting the growing demand in the city.
“The location is near to neighbouring Haymarket Station and its associated tram and bus stops and is highly accessible to the city’s universities and colleges.”
