Coronation Street star’s Kimberly Hart-Simpson has confirmed she’s broken up with Shane Finlayson, who she’d been dating for six months after meeting on Celebs Go Dating
Kimberly Hart-Simpson has confirmed that she’s split up from the boyfriend she met on Celebs Go Dating.
She explained that the long distance between them and the current coronavirus restrictions meant they struggled to make the relationship work.
“After 6 months of dating Shane and I have decided to part ways,” Kimberly, who plays Nicky Wheatley in the ITV soap, told her 134,000 Instagram followers on Friday.
“We are proud of our journey and respect each other immensely.
“The show has been the best experience.
“Our journey after that even better but with the distance between us, work commitments and restrictions can naturally take its toll.”
Kimberley then thanked her fans for supporting their romance after watching them fall for each other on the E4 dating show.
She added: “Thank you for the love you have given us, it has not been wasted. XX”
It comes after Kimberly announced last month that they had moved in together during lockdown.
She told Fubar Radio: “We have been thrust together.
“Because of lockdown, we’ve had to stay in the same home together.
“Because either that, or we have no chance, like what, what chance have these relationships got when they are distanced right now and everything’s stacked against them?
She said they’d even watched their reality TV series back to see their relationship blossom on-screen.
Kimberly added: “We made a bold, strong choice to watch the entire series together and continue living.
“Yeah, he had to watch me dating with other people. That wasn’t awkward at all. I was like, ‘Hahaha, I didn’t really think they were fit.’ They were.”
In the final episode of Celebs Go Dating Shane had declared that he was in love with the soap star.
“I’ve been wanting to say something for the last few days,” he told her with tears in his eyes.
“I’ve literally fallen in love with you and I want to be with you.”
Kimberly told him she felt the same, saying: “For every single second and minute passing, I’m developing more and more feelings for you.
“I just want you to know that I’m going to encourage you, stand by you. We’ve got each other now. I want to be with you.”
They then went Instagram official back in February, with Kimberly telling her fans: “Hey Insta. Meet the fella.”
Sadly, it seems their relationship wasn’t quite meant to be.
Shane is yet to comment on the breakup on social media.
