Sair Khan has split from her boyfriend Simon Lennon after two years, blaming her filming schedule for the collapse in their relationship.
The 31-year-old star of ITV soap Coronation Street , in which she has played Alya Nazir since 2014, has called time on her romance as work commitments limited their time together.
Fans of I’m A Celebrity saw Simon greet Sair’s exit from the jungle last year, with a warm hug and photos on the pair’s social media show that they were a very close coupling.
Simon, who plays Brains in BBC drama Our Girl, is now having to sit on the sidelines as Sair pursues her increasingly busy career, after two years together.
The breaking point seems to have come with Sair signing up to Channel 4 show Sink Or Swim.
They have struggled to spend time together as Sair faces the challenge of learning to swim for the new show.
A source told The Sun that the actress found training to be “more difficult than she expected,” and that it has “really taken its toll on her emotionally and pushed her relationship to breaking point.”
They are both “at pivotal times in their careers” and have “tried to make it work.”
During this week’s episode of the Channel-swimming show, Sair is seen visiting a hypnotherapist as she looks to deal with her anxiety.
Speaking out about her feelings, Sair said: “I’ve really had my ups and downs with anxiety and this challenge, you feel so raw, you feel so vulnerable.”
