Manchester United fan Conor McGregor is a big fan of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s work since the Norwegian took over as interim manager at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils beat Arsenal 3-1 in the FA Cup on Friday night, Solskjaer’s eighth straight victory since taking the United hot seat.

Goals from Alexis Sanchez, Jesse Lingard and Anthony Martial gave United the win in north London and former UFC champion McGregor was clearly very impressed.

The Irishman took to Twitter after the game and got pretty emotional about how Solskjaer is doing at Old Trafford.

McGregor tweeted: ‘Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a special man! The Man United Super Sub. Player AND Manager. Insane!

‘You can feel the passion he has for his club and it’s history. Beaming with pride as he vividly explains the teams amazing counter attacking ability over the years. Past and present!

A fan shared a picture of ‘The Notorious’ as a child in a Manchester United shirt and McGregor continued his emotional mood, telling the story of the jersey.

‘I see my son when I look at this. Thank you for sharing,’ tweeted the Irishman.

‘This is a picture from my schools “sports day”, and that infamous Grey Utd jersey, I actually bought myself with my communion money at 8 years of age.

‘I’d love to know where it is now.

‘A truly Notorious football jersey!’

As ever, McGregor also got a plug in for his Proper Twelve whiskey as well…

The MMA superstar has not always been such a passionate United fan, telling the Independent in 2015: ‘I was big into football as a kid, but more as a player than a watcher. I suppose if you pushed me I would say Manchester United, but that’s only because it gets passed down from generation to generation.’

McGregor’s next UFC is still to be determined, with talk of the former featherweight and lightweight champion taking on Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone, or taking on Khabib Nurmagamedov in a rematch after defeat to the Russian at UFC 229.
