Coleen Rooney 'fumes' over husband Wayne's public support for Jamie Vardy

Coleen Rooney was reportedly left furious after her husband Wayne publicly showed his support for fellow footballer Jamie Vardy.

The Manchester United legend recently praised Jamie and said he should be part of the England squad.

It comes as Coleen is in the middle of a legal battle with Jamie’s wife Rebekah Vardy after the mum-of-four accused Becky’s account of leaking fake stories about her to the press – which Becky strenuously denies.

“Coleen was livid when she read Wayne’s comments – she couldn’t believe he’d be so disloyal as to talk about it in public,” an insider claimed to heat magazine.

“She knows that Wayne thinks this battle with Becky is ridiculous and that they should end it, but publicly she wants everyone to know that her husband is behind her.

“So, for him to talk about Jamie, and mention her and Becky’s court case, is humiliating. She felt there was no need for him to bring it up. But Wayne doesn’t see what the big deal is as he was talking about football.”

Mirror have contacted Coleen’s reps for comment.

A week ago, Wayne made the comment that supposedly upset his wife.

“One man I wish was in Gareth’s [Southgate’s] squad is Jamie Vardy,” he said in his Sunday Times column.

“I would have tried absolutely everything to lure him out of retirement for these finals.”

Mentioning the two women’s feud: “I know some people may be surprised at this, especially with the legal case between my wife and Jamie’s wife, but this is my honest football opinion.”

Back in March, a court heard Coleen labelling the legal costs involved in her Rebekah case ‘grotesque’.

Lawyers representing both parties appeared at London’s High Court via videolink on March 16 where it was heard the case is expected to cost a total of £897,000.

Coleen initially accused the Dancing On Ice star of leaking fake stories about her private life in October 2019 after carrying out a long “sting operation”, which saw her dubbed Wagatha Christie.

She shared fake stories onto her personal Instagram account – including a made-up story of her travelling to Mexico to “see what this gender selection is all about”, as well as the basement flooding in her new house.

The star then wrote on Instagram and Twitter that ‘someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account’ had been leaking ‘private posts and stories’.

“I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account,” Coleen dramatically added.

Rebekah denies the allegations and is suing Coleen for libel damages.
