The models in Citroën’s UK commercial vehicle range are about to gain a (very) small sibling with the introduction of the Citroën Ami Cargo – a van-like version of the fully electric Ami.
The news follows the recent announcement from Citroën that the standard passenger variant will also be offered for sale in the UK in 2022.
Aimed at delivery drivers and businesses in urban areas, the Ami Cargo has a maximum payload of 140kg and a capacity of 400 litres (the equivalent of about four large suitcases). This space includes a seven-part cargo module in the place of the front passenger seat that alone can hold up to 260 litres. There’s also a secondary shelf unit which can hold up to 40kg, with the option to use this as a desk when parked.
At just 2.41m long, 1.39m wide and 1.52m tall, the Cargo has identical dimensions to the standard Ami, which itself has been designed for maximum manoeuvrability.
Under the skin, the Cargo also features the same 8bhp electric motor and a 5.5kWh lithium ion battery, giving it an official range of up to 46 miles. Using a normal three-pin plug socket, charging is estimated to take about three hours.
