Chic coastal living at The Beach Lodges in Carbis Bay, St Ives

The Beach Lodges at Carbis Bay, St Ives offer unparalleled luxury accommodation in one of Cornwall’s most beautiful settings…

Where is it? The Carbis Bay Estate is next to the picturesque Cornish town of St Ives. The Estate is a luxurious coastal retreat made up of several types of accommodation (a main hotel, suites, lodges and cottages), restaurants, a spa and a privately owned 25-acre Blue Flag beach. The Lodges & Suites are the latest addition to the Estate and sit directly on the beachfront.

Which room? There are eight Beach Lodges which sleep between six to eight guests. These lodgings epitomise chic costal luxury with panoramic beach views, spacious modern bedrooms with private bathrooms and roll-top baths, spiral staircases and state of the art technology. But the focus on interiors and modern living does not detract from the natural beauty of the surrounding environment.

Every effort has been made to maximise the beachfront location and give each Lodge an air of tranquillity and natural calm. Floor-to-ceiling windows, private balconies and an open-plan beach-level living space contribute to this. A private rooftop garden with a hot tub overlooking the sea is the jewel in the crown.

What to do: The Lodges are so spectacular it will be difficult to tear yourself away but you must.

The best place to start is, of course, the beach. Make the most of the velvet-soft yellow sand or get into the sparkling blue waters and do some stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, bodyboarding or even learn to surf.

There are lots of activities to enjoy in the surrounding area. From St Ives you can take a boat trip, go on a guided garden tour or visit one of the local historic houses or castles. The area is steeped in arts and culture too and no trip would be complete without a visit to The Tate.

Want to stay closer to home? Make use of the spa facilities at C Bay Spa which include a heated outdoor pool, hydropool and sauna pod and spa gardens.

On the menu: Guests in the Lodges can make use of the main hotel’s dining facilities or order to the room. There is also a kitchenette so if you feel like self-catering that’s always an option too.

An exciting addition to the Estate’s choice of restaurants in August-September 2019 will be Michelin starred chef Tom Sellers’ pop-up restaurant ‘Story by the Sea’ where guests will be able to enjoy the best of British food through a tasting menu of seasonal dishes.

Best for: These sizeable lodgings are best enjoyed with friends or family. They are spacious enough to avoid feeling on top of each other but have great communal areas to come together and spend quality time in a luxury setting. Children will love the proximity to the beach and parents will appreciate the fuss-free access directly from the front garden. Dog owners will also be pleased to know your pooch can come along too as these Lodges are dog friendly.

Anything else I should know? The Beach Lodges & Suites come with a Guest Host Service which is designed to enhance your stay by taking care of all of your needs, be it restaurant reservations, travel, daily errands or privacy solutions for an ultra-discreet stay. The exceptionally friendly hosts will go out of their way to make your time as memorable and fuss-free as possible.

When to go: The summer is undoubtedly the best time to make the most of the beach-front location. But these are also the busiest months so for a more peaceful retreat book out of season and make the most of a quieter beach with the same luxury amenities on hand.
