Cheryl has credited her meditation and yoga practices as the source of her new lease of life.
The former Girls Aloud singer, 37, has ditched her pop star lifestyle for a much healthier and toned-down everyday routine, and the mum-of-one has never felt better in herself.
The much-loved singer has been keeping a low profile over the past year and a half since lockdown first swept the nation, and during that time away from social media, she put all her energy into adapting new health habits which ultimately changed her entire life.
Lifting the lid on the welcome change, Cheryl told Marie Claire meditation has made helped her deal with inner anxiety, as well as shifting her perception on life as a whole.
“I used to be that person that was like, you think I could meditate? I would hear what people were saying, but I never understood.
“You just need to really get into it. It depends where you are in your life – some people are just not there in their lives, or aren’t ready for it, or don’t feel like they can, and that’s fine as well.
“It takes you out of what you’re focusing on so that you can calm down. It’s proven scientifically. It’s not just like you’re sitting in silence for ten minutes.”
When it comes to working out, Cheryl prefers to opt for more calming exercises rather than high-intensity moves.
“I haven’t really been doing a lot. I had a couple of health concerns at the top of the pandemic so I just calmed everything down and then I never calmed it back up again.
“I like yoga. I like Bikram, and I like it to be hot as I feel like my heart’s pounding and I’ve done something. You feel like you’ve been stretched from head-to-toe.”
In the diet department, Cheryl revealed that she has consciously tried to reduce her meat intake, and now eats vegetarian dishes three to four times a week.
The gradual shift has seen the star feel healthier overall.
It comes after the star revealed that she doesn’t care about her weight and image as much after becoming a mother.
Back in 2017, Cheryl welcomed her son Bear, 4, with her ex-boyfriend Liam Payne.
Since then, the singer has realised what is important in life, with her weight sitting on the bottom of her priority list.
“You just realise how little some of the stuff you cared about – and I mean, really cared – actually matters,” she commented. “It just dissipates. Like, I’m going to be forty in two years.”
