Chelsea are taking on Luton Town in the FA Cup fourth round today at a snowy Stamford Bridge, as Frank Lampard desperately seeks a win to bring some momentum back to the team. The Blues have struggled in recent weeks with a run of form which has seen the slip down the Premier League table to be in the middle of the pack. Luton meanwhile have been going reasonably well in the Championship and are currently 13th, well clear of trouble, and Nathan Jones is enjoying his time as manager.

Lampard makes seven changes to his most recent league team with Kepa Arrizabalaga taking up station in goal, Kurt Zouma restored to defence, Billy Gilmour in midfield and Hakim Ziyech starting on the wing in what appears to be a 4-2-3-1 formation. The manager will be hoping for a big performance and came out with fighting talk this week: “I’m a fighter first and foremost, it’s how I managed to make a career out of the game as a player,” said Lampard. “So when I packed up I could have easily stayed in the media or left football completely, I didn’t need to come back in.I got in with a desire to be successful, and I didn’t have the blinkers on, I knew there would be tough times, there would be things you can’t control like you did as a player.”

HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 2-1 LUTON

A late Luton free kick is headed at goal by Cornick, but Kepa makes a routine save. And with that, the first-half comes to a close. Chelsea lead, though not as comfortably as they might have done. Abraham’s early brace but the hosts in control, but a mistake from Kepa allowed Clark to half the deficit. Luton aren’t out of this yet.

Luton are having to withstand a spell of Chelsea pressure late in the half. Mount works some space on the right after a short corner and fizzes a cross towards the back post. Again, there’s no one there to meet it.

CHELSEA 2-1 LUTON (42’)

Chelsea work the ball a little too patiently on the edge of Luton’s box. Abraham does well to improvise a pass out to Ziyech, who picks out Mount in a central position. His shot is blocked and the rebound is cleared before it drops to Abraham.

Luton’s tactical shift has certainly given them a foothold in this game. Chelsea are still threatening but there’s a sense now that the visitors can cause real problems at the other end, not least because of Kepa’s unreliability.

GOAL! CHELSEA 2-1 LUTON (CLARK 30’)

Luton are back in the game! They put together their best move of the half, moving the ball from left to right with real purpose. A cross comes in and is met by Clark, who sweeps a low shot towards the bottom left corner. The pace on the ball surprises Kepa, who gets a hand to it but allows it to trickle past him and into the net. It’s a goalkeeping error from the Spaniard, but Luton have responded well to going two goals down.
