Chelsea transfer round-up as Salah stance emerges and Rice drops hint on future

There have been fewer more impressive starts to life as a Premier League manager than Thomas Tuchel is currently enjoying at Chelsea.

Appointed in January to replace Frank Lampard, the German has transformed fortunes at Stamford Bridge to leave his side on the precipice of a historic end to the season.

In the next month, the Blues will have the opportunity to win the FA Cup and Champions League, as well as securing a berth in the top four of the league.

And Saturday’s win over champions elect Manchester City have fans believing that next season, they could truly contend for another league crown.

After spending big under Lampard last summer, there is a hope that Tuchel will be the afforded the same luxury this time around.

A number of names have been linked with a move and with that in mind – here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours:

Salah stance emerges

When Mohamed Salah was touted as a potential target for Tuchel and Chelsea, it always felt fanciful at best.

The Egyptian spent three difficult seasons at Stamford Bridge, making just 19 appearances in all competitions.

After loan spells with Fiorentina and Roma, he would ultimately be sold to the latter before returning to the Premier League to make his former side regret their decision to allow him to leave.

Salah has 123 goals in total for Liverpool but has recently raised speculation about his future, refusing to close the door on a move to La Liga.

And then earlier this week, German news outlet BILD claimed that the forward was on Tuchel’s shortlist for attacking talents.

However, the Athletic have rubbished those rumours, suggesting there is ‘absolutely zero chance’ Liverpool would sell the player to a Premier League rival.

Declan drops hint

Declan Rice has admitted he dreams of palying in the Champions League future, as speculation regarding his future continues to swirl.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with the West Ham star, who has been forced to miss the run-in through injury.

Defeat to Everton on Sunday served as huge blow for the Hammers’ ambitions of finishing in the top four, with the midfielder hinting he needs to play in Europe’s top competition.

“To have that Champions League music playing, that’s where I want to be,” he told BBC’s MOTDx.

“It’s special, I can’t really describe it to be honest. As a kid it’s your dream, first of all to play in the Premier League, but to be competing for the Champions League [as well].

De Ligt approach snubbed

Juventus are reportedly ready to reject any offers for central defensive star Matthijs de Ligt.

Chelsea had been touted as a potential destination for the Dutchman, who has been one of the few bright sparks in a disappointing season for the Bianconeri.

Tuttomercato report that the Blues were first to make contact with the Italian giant, only to have the door slammed in their face.

The 21-year-old has also been linked with Barcelona, who signed former Ajax teammate Frenkie de Jong in the summer of 2019.

However, as per the latest reports, Juve have no intention of selling the player, even if they miss out on the Champions League.
