Abraham had spells on loan at Bristol City and Swansea over the last two seasons and has been recovering from a minor injury problem.
The issue caused him to miss all three squads of the Blues’ opening Premier League fixtures, as they took home nine points from nine.
Abraham had been back training at Cobham with the Chelsea first team but now looks set for a switch to Villa Park as Villains boss Bruce looks to bolster his team for another promotion charge.
Villa managed to keep hold of star midfielder Jack Grealish after a proposed move to Tottenham broke down before the transfer deadline.
