Celebs arrive at secret Dancing On Ice auditions from comic icons to footballers

Celebs were seen lining up around the block to try out for the next series of Dancing on Ice.

The A-listers were out in force as they showed off their skills on the ice, all vying for a spot on the 2021 series of the ITV hit.

Making their way to the Slough Ice Arena in Berkshire, the celebs are competing to win one of 12 spots.

With at least 17 hopefuls showing their faces, this means at least five are set for disappointment.

And while it’s not clear when the 2021 series will go ahead, all will be hoping to follow in Joe Swash and Alex Murphy’s footsteps and lift that trophy.

Denise could be taking to the ice – building on her Celebrity Gogglebox popularity

Among the big names was Denise Van Outen, who’s been appearing on Celebrity Gogglebox alongside “the one” Eddie Boxshall.

Denise looked effortlessly cool in leggings and a bold pink jumper, while Love Island fan favourite Luke Trotman opted for a bright yellow hoodie underneath a black sleeveless jacket.

He pulled up with girlfriend Siannise Fudge, with whom he came second during Love Island’s last series.

Footballer Wayne hopes to make it to the lineup of 12

Wayne Bridge meanwhile – married to The Saturdays star Frankie – is hoping to swap his football boots for a pair of skates.

The athletic crowd was bulked out by two Olympians, heptathlon champion Denise Lewis and swimming sensation Mark Foster.

Darts player Fallon Sherrock is also gunning for a spot.

Comedian Rufus showed up to the rink

Dr Alex has been battling coronavirus on the frontline as an NHS doctor – and is hoping to take to the ice

On team comedy is Vicki Michelle, of ‘Allo! ‘Allo! fame – who at 69 is believed to be the oldest of the hopefuls.

She’s joined by Rufus Hound, as well as actress and This Morning star Lisa Maxwell, vlogger LadBaby and Tattoo Fixers’ Stephen “Sketch” Porter.

Reality TV stars were out in force, as joining Luke was fellow islander Dr Alex George, who’s updates from the frontline against coronavirus have won him a whole new army of fans.

Baga Chipz recently took part in Celebrity MasterChef – with her gaze turned to Dancing on Ice

Made In Chelsea’s Olivia Bentley and TOWIE’s Billie Faiers also hit up the rink, while RuPaul’s Drag Race star Baga Chipz is hoping to build on her Celebrity MasterChef stint.

Blue singer and heartthrob Anthony Costa made his return to the show to try out as a contestant, having starred as a guest judge in 2009.

Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are thought to be returning in 2021 as well.

Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, John Barrowman and Ashley Banjo are also expected to return to judging duties.

A source told The Sun that there was “an undercurrent of competition” during the auditions.

“Places on a primetime show are lucrative,” the insider said, “and contestants get a huge career boost by taking part.

“There are likely to be other auditions for celebrities based in more remote areas, and even abroad.”

Meanwhile, a source told the publication that ITV are looking to secure top talent for the show after the blow that telly took from the coronavirus crisis.
