Carole Baskin has admitted to wanting to kill her first husband in unearthed letters from 30 years ago.
The 59-year-old Tiger King star has been the subject of a lot of speculation about the disappearance of her second husband, Don Lewis, and her alleged involvement in it.
It has now been reported that the Big Cat Rescue founder said she “would have eventually killed” her first husband Michael Murdock, in letters she penned that have been seen by TMZ.
Baskin has clarified the the comments were made because she claims her first husband was abusive and they she would have acted in self-defence against him.
The letter, which will form part of a documentary about her rival big cat owner, Joe Exotic, which is being aired on Investigation Discovery in the US.
Carole wrote the letter to the wife of her second husband Don, telling Gladys a few truths after conducting a nine-year affair with her husband.
She wrote: “I had to get out of my marriage and would have eventually killed my husband to do it.”
Carole confirmed that the letter was written by her but said: “I only meant it in the context of self-defence as Mike Murdock was physically abusive to me to the point of causing me to fear for my life.”
The Netflix show’s breakout star married Michael in 1978 and she shares her daughter Jamie with him.
She has often claimed that he was abusive to her and she conducted a long affair with Don Lewis during the 1980’s.
Carole eventually divorced Michael in 1991 and she married Don the same year after he ended his marriage to Gladys.
Don was a self-made millionaire through real estate and car sales and left a reported $5 million when he was declared dead, after disappearing in 1997.
Carole said that he continued to have affairs and that he would fly to Costa Rica to see women there.
When he disappeared, he had a one-way ticket to the country and his unexplained vanishing was brought to international prominence by the Netflix docuseries, Tiger King.
Her fractured relationship with Don’s ex-family was exposed as well as Joe Exotic’s assertions that Carole killed her husband and fed him to her tigers.
Don’s case has been reopened but police have said they are not investigating Carole and she has consistently denied having any involvement in his disappearance.
Carole has recently turned her attentions to the dancefloor, appearing on the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars.
She was a controversial addition to the new season, with many viewers complaining on social media about her involvement.
They will worry no more though as Carole became the first celebrity in 29 seasons to be eliminated after Disney week on the show.
She failed to impress the judges and found herself in the bottom two for the second week running.
Carole continued her trend of feline-themed outfits and hit the dancefloor while dressed as a lion.
She and professional dance partner Pasha Pashkov performed a samba to Circle Of Life from The Lion King but the duo only received a total of 12 out of 30 from the judges, including a lowly three from Bruno Tonioli.
Carole found herself in the bottom two alongside actress Anne Heche and judges opted to send the Tiger King star home.
“My husband is going to be so happy I’m coming home,” an upbeat Baskin said.
