There are set to be capacity crowds at stadiums in the UK from 19 July with no need for fans to show vaccine passports, thanks to the success of the test events held so far.

Boris Johnson will hold a press conference on Monday evening setting out plans for the end of lockdown restrictions on Monday 19 July, which will include the end of limited crowds at sporting events.

The Times reports that there will be no need to show proof of being double vaccinated to get into sporting events after that date, unlike at the test events so far, where you have needed proof of vaccination or a negative test result.

It may be that certain businesses still insist on proof of vaccination or a negative test result after 19 July, but they will not be forced to do so.

The semi-finals and final of Euro 2020 are taking place this week, with England facing Denmark on Wednesday night and then the winners playing either Spain or Italy on Sunday.

The games are being played at Wembley, but as they are held before the 19 July deadline they will still be capped at 60,000 capacity, which was agreed last month.

This is up from the 22,500 allowed at England’s group games and 45,000 at the last 16 clash with Germany.

However, when the Premier League gets back underway in August, we should see full houses again, unless the pandemic takes a significant turn for the worse.

England’s Test series with India in August and Goodwood races in late July will also be some of the first events to welcome back full crowds.
