Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the fell 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Sleep Country Canada Holdings Inc (TSX:), which rose 4.61% or 1.48 points to trade at 33.58 at the close. Lithium Americas Corp (TSX:) added 4.48% or 1.06 points to end at 24.72 and Lightspeed POS Inc (TSX:) was up 3.75% or 4.95 points to 136.78 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Westshore Terminals Investment Corp (TSX:), which lost 5.83% or 1.34 points to trade at 21.66 in late trade. SunOpta Inc . (TSX:) declined 4.95% or 0.62 points to end at 11.90 and Westport Fuel Systems Inc (TSX:) shed 4.83% or 0.25 points to 4.93.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 536 to 518 and 89 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 6.65 to $1812.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.49% or 0.34 to hit $69.08 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.42 to trade at $72.12 a barrel.
CAD/USD was up 0.09% to 0.7930, while CAD/EUR rose 0.04% to 0.6721.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.00% at 92.690.
