Cadbury cuts the size of Christmas selection box again – by shrinking your favourites

Feeling short-changed? (Picture: Getty/Cadbury)

Do you ever get the feeling your favourite chocolate treats aren’t as big as they used to be? Well in this instance, it’s true.

Cadbury has made its Christmas selection box smaller yet again by shrinking the Wispas and Double Deckers.

This means you get 24g less chocolate than three years ago – equivalent to losing a Fudge bar.

This is the third year in a row that the size of the classic selection box has decreased – and yet the price of the festive treat has remained unchanged – at £2.

The chocolate in the Santa Selection Box has been cut from 169g to 145g since 2018.

Last year, it contained a 40g Double Decker and 30.5g Wispa. Now these have been cut to 37.3g and 27.9g.

So, some chocolate lovers are feeling a little bit short-changed. Particularly because the selection box is such a staple feature of many people’s Christmas mornings.

Speaking to The Sun, a Cadbury spokesperson said: ‘We sometimes have to make decisions to slightly reduce the size or weight of our products to keep them as affordable as possible.’

We have also asked Cadbury for comment, and will update this article if we get a response.

Of course, if you’re really unhappy with the amount of chocolate you’re going to receive this Christmas, you could always try your hand at making your own. This simple recipe only uses three ingredients.

And with December right around the corner, it might be a good time to start thinking about the best advent calendars for chocolate lovers.
