Fulham’s Premier League clash with Burnley has had to be postponed, with more positive Covid-19 cases found at the club.

Scott Parker’s first-team squad were due to train on Saturday morning before making their way up to Burnley in the afternoon but players were told not to report for duty at Motspur Park.

The London derby between Fulham and Tottenham on December 30 also had to be called off after several positive tests for coronavirus were recorded at the Craven Cottage outfit.

An official statement from Fulham on Saturday afternoon read: ‘Following further new positive results returned from the most recent Covid-19 tests, the club can confirm that this Sunday’s away fixture at Burnley has been postponed after discussions with the Premier League and advice from medical teams.

‘Those who tested positive are self-isolating in line with UK Government and Premier League guidance.

‘The welfare of our players, staff and their families continue to be of paramount importance, and we wish those who have tested positive a safe and speedy recovery.’

Burnley passed on their best wishes to those at Fulham who tested positive and confirmed a new date would be announced for the fixture ‘in due course’.

‘All at Burnley Football Club pass on our best wishes to those in the Fulham camp affected, and wish them a speedy recovery,’ a brief statement on the club’s website said.

Fulham are investigating an incident involving centre-forward Alexsandar Mitrovic, who was reportedly pictured with Crystal Palace captain Luka Milivojevic on New Year’s Eve.

Head coach Parker was forced to miss the side’s goalless draw with Southampton on Boxing Day after a member of his household tested positive for coronavirus.
