Buckingham Palace to make announcement on Harry and Meghan's royal positions

Buckingham Palace officials are expected to make a final announcement on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal positions a lot earlier than initially expected in order to prevent further speculation and uncertainty, it has been reported.

As the one year ‘Megxit’ review period ends next month, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to give up their roles.

According to reports, none of the parties involved have been told about the move leaving them ‘uncertain’ about future events.

The Telegraph says that a decision on the couple’s position will not be left until the end of March and will be brought forward.

Harry and Meghan are also allegedly awaiting confirmation from the Palace.

When Meghan and Harry made the decision to resign from their roles as working royals last March, a one year review was put in place, which is edging closer.

Prince Harry is said to be “upset” after the Queen reportedly agreed to remove a number of his and Meghan’s royal patronages.

It could see Harry removed from a number of official positions, including his role as Captain General of the Royal Marines.

The patronages are a gift to members of the Royal Family from the Queen, and an announcement over Harry’s and Meghan’s roles is expected to be made in the coming weeks.

Meghan would also have to relinquish her role as patron of the National Theatre – while Harry could lose his patronage of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League, reports The Times.

Harry is also honorary air commandant, RAF Honington, and commodore-in-chief, Small Ships and Diving, Royal Naval Command.

There is said to be more of a grey area when it comes to their positions with two Commonwealth organisations.

Meghan is patron of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and both she and Harry are president and vice-president of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.
