Bruno Fernandes admits he was ‘happy’ to see his Manchester United teammates look disappointed in the dressing room following their 2-2 draw with Leicester City on Boxing Day.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side before Harvey Barnes netted an equaliser for Leicester.

Fernandes put United ahead once again with 11 minutes remaining but Axel Tuanzebe’s own goal with just five minutes to go rescued a point for the Foxes.

The draw means United have passed up the chance to move into second place and a win would have put them two points behind Liverpool, who face West Brom on Sunday.

And Fernandes says he is pleased with how United’s players responded to their setback.

‘It’s good to be disappointed,’ Fernandes told MUTV.

‘I was really happy when I got in the dressing room and I saw everyone disappointed and saying the things we had to do better.

‘You are creating a winning mentality and we are not happy with this point.

‘Of course, we are frustrated because we know we had the chance to get there points, it was important for us because we want to win all the games.

‘They have a good team but I think we had the chances to win this game and for it to be more than 2-1 at 85 minutes but when it’s 2-1 at 85 minutes you can concede a goal.

‘We are disappointed, of course. They are a little bit lucky. But now we have no time to be disappointed because it’s just three days [before the next game].

‘We have to be frustrated but know we have a game in three days and we have to do much better to get three points because again we play another good team.’

Speaking after the match, Rashford told MUTV: ‘It feels like a loss in the changing room.

‘I think we deserved to win the game, we had the chances to win the game, we just couldn’t get over the line.

‘If we score two goals in a game we expect to win the game. It’s difficult to take.’
