Brighton star Yves Bissouma has dropped a hint of his future amid speculation linking him to a last-minute transfer to Liverpool or Manchester United before the window closes.

The dynamic midfielder has been of interest to several of Europe’s elite during this transfer window, including French giants Paris Saint-Germain, after an impressive start to the season on the south-coast.

It understood that Brighton would listen to offers of more than £40m for Bissouma, who has just under two years left on his contract.

However, in a post on Instagram after a 2-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday, Bissouma indicated that he expects to remain at Brighton.

‘I find it hard to digest this defeat by what we wanted to win our third game in a row for a great club with incredible fans but unfortunately as we say in football nothing is planned in advance but the best is yet to come focus for next one,’ he posted.

Liverpool are attempting to find a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who left the club on a free transfer to PSG in the summer, while United are hoping to strengthen their central midfield options having also been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez.

Earlier this week, Brighton boss Graham Potter responded to speculation that he could soon lose the Mali international.

‘I have been answering questions about Yves for a long time, it’s a part of my daily routine! I answer questions about Yves, or when Tariq (Lamptey) was fit it was him, it’s just a part of football,’ he said.

‘He’s enjoying his football, I can’t control what others do or think. I know he’s with us. You can see from his performances he’s committed to Brighton, so we’re delighted with that.’
