Brexit news: MPs vote against programme motion – will there be a General Election?

As Boris Johnson and the EU prepare to make their decision, the latest odds suggest a general election is possible before the UK exits the EU.

According to Betfair, the current odds for a general election are 8/11, while the odds for leaving the EU are evens.

Betfair Spokeswoman Katie Baylis said: “At the moment the likelihood is that we will get a General Election before the UK leaves the EU, according to our odds.”

The Government is currently a minority in the House of Commons, meaning it will find it difficult to fend off incoming amendments which seek to change the face of the current Withdrawal Agreement.
