Burnley’s Premier League clash with Tottenham has been postponed after Storm Arwen covered Turf Moor in a layer of snow.

The pitch was inspected prior to kick-off at 2pm this Sunday and the surface was deemed too dangerous to play on.

Tottenham took to Twitter to announce the match was off with a tweet reading: “We can confirm that today’s match against Burnley has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.”

Burnley later tweeted: “Due to concerns with the playing surface and surrounding areas, it’s been deemed that the game can’t go ahead safely.”

Burnley boss Sean Dyche had been pictured inspecting the pitch with the referees this Sunday morning.

And while the officials all wore heavy coats, the Clarets manager braved the snowy conditions in just his shirt.

Antonio Conte was anticipating a difficult game against Burnley this Sunday.

Ahead of the match, the Italian said: “For us, it’s an important game – like this [against Mura] – because [Thursday] was an important game.

“Now we have two days to recover and to prepare for the game against Burnley and for sure we have to give more in all aspects – tactical aspects, physical aspects and also mentally. We need to give more.

“I know very well what kind of game we expect against Burnley. Burnley is a tough game, they play with intensity, they put pressure on, they play a lot of long balls and they are very good in set-pieces, so we have to pay great attention.

“But in this moment, we all have to think that we have to give more.”
