BORIS Johnson fired an SBS assault rifle on a secret trip to their HQ.
The PM got his hands on the laser-sighted weapon used in the recapture of an oil tanker off the Isle of Wight.
He was joined by Defence Secretary Ben Wallace in thanking the commandos who stormed the MV Nave Andromeda last month to tackle violent stowaways.
The pair were flown to the Special Boat Service’s base in Poole, Dorset, by helicopter.
They met 50 men who took part in the mission, including sniper teams, pilots and those who boarded the tanker from assault boats or abseiled from choppers.
The team opened their armoury to let the duo fire L119A1 assault rifles, M4 carbines and Glock pistols on their indoor range.
A source said: “Boris couldn’t wait to have a go. They wanted to say thank you for a job well done.
“Both of them were loving it. They both got to fire a few weapons.”
