BBC Strictly Come Dancing legend under fire over Rose Ayling-Ellis remarks

Strictly Come Dancing star Rose Ayling-Ellis has captured the hearts of the nation since appearing on the ballroom dancing show, but has been branded “average” by James Jordan,

Former BBC Strictly pro, James, branded her “distinctly” average following her recent performance with Giovanni Pernice.

James’ wife Ola Jordan also backed up her husband during an interview with Hello! Magazine.

Sources say broadcasting bosses are hoping to capitalise on Rose’s explosion in popularity after noticing how viewers have ‘fallen in love with her’

He said: “Rose and Giovanni came out with a Quickstep, but I didn’t think it was their best performance.

“I think we’ve seen such great things from this pairing, that our expectations were set extremely high.”

His wife Ola added: “Last week we said Rose deserved to go all the way to the final and take home the glitterball, but this week’s performance felt a little average from them.”

Sandra Halford clapped back at James: “Rose was amazing as usual, and defo my winner.”

123Josh fumed: “Nowt like a bit of bitter controversy in a rather desperately vain attempt to stay relevant”

Blueandy fumed: “I can’t believe how much bitterness this couple are carrying around with them. It’s years since Strictly dumped them…get over it and get on with your own lives.”

After Ayling-Ellis performed a quickstep to Love Is An Open Door from Disney’s Frozen, stand in guest judge Cynthia Erivo signed a message to her and said: “I think you’re joyful, beautiful.

“That was so much fun to watch and you managed to get all the characterisation and the mood and the feeling all in one. It was gorgeous.”

A source told The Mail On Sunday: “Rose is a star and is exactly what the BBC need. The nation has fallen in love with her.

“Everything about her is so charming and lovely.

“She has won a fan base of millions of people in the matter of a few weeks.”
