Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed Kingsley Coman underwent successful heart surgery on Thursday.

Coman, 25, complained of a shortage of breath in training and had an operation after a ‘minor heart irregularity’ was discovered.

The France international, who scored the winning goal in Bayern’s Champions League final victory over PSG last year, will spend the next 10-14 days rehabilitating and is expected to make a full recovery.

‘He had a slightly irregular heartbeat, a minor heart irregularity,’ Nagelsmann said on Friday afternoon.

‘We did a long-term ECG (electrocardiography) and carried out this operation.

‘He’s doing very well and he has little wound pain.

‘Once the wound is healed then he will be able to start with rehab training and it won’t be more than 10 days to two weeks before he’s back in full training.’

Coman came on as a 69th-minute replacement in Bayern’s 3-0 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Bayern will be without Coman for their upcoming Bundesliga clashes with Bochum and Greuther Furth and the forward could also miss the side’s Champions League group-stage clash with Dynamo Kiev at the end of the month.

Coman has made more than 200 appearances for the German champions since initially joining the club on loan from Juventus back in 2015.

The Frenchman is yet to make a league start for Bayern this season, with the club sitting second in the table behind Wolfsburg.
