Neymar return in doubt

Real Madrid are reportedly confident over their pursuit of Neymar, sending the player’s proposed return to Barcelona into doubt.

The Paris Saint-Germain star is believed to want to rejoin the side he left in 2017 for £200million.

Catalan newspaper Sport claim Los Blancos chiefs are convinced they will capture the Brazilian, however.

PSG want to recoup the money they spent on Neymar two years ago and have already rejected a bid of £100m plus Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez and Keylor Navas from Real.

PSG star suggests Neymar prefers Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Pablo Sarabia has said Neymar would rather join Barcelona than Real Madrid.

The Spaniard only joined PSG this summer but has stirred the pot by speaking out about his team-mate.

The player was asked whether Neymar is a ‘Madridista’ or ‘Cule’ in an interview on Spanish radio station El Larguero.

“I know he’s been at Barca, I’ll throw that out there,” he said in reply.

Dembele eager to stay

Ousmane Dembele has not hit the heights Barcelona chiefs hoped for upon signing him for a deal worth £135.5million in 2017.

The Frenchman was seen as a replacement for Neymar but has ostensibly been proposed as a makeweight in deals for Neymar this summer.

Dembele strained his left hamstring in Barcelona’s La Liga opener last week which hampers his tough task of breaking into a frontline consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann.

He wants to prove himself in Barcelona, though, and his agent Moussa Sissoko told L’Equipe: “He does not plan to leave Barcelona at the moment. This is the course of action fixed for several months now and no element is or will be likely to cause us to deviate.

“Ousmane feels perfectly well within the club and he remains determined to impose himself in the long term.

“Despite interest from several great European clubs, Ousmane is convinced he wants to be at the heart of the largest of them and everything is there to make it flourish.

“Ousmane is aware of what he has to do on a daily basis to make his Barcelona adventure a complete success.”
