‘What makes you so special?’ Bachelor Matt Agnew is left flustered as he’s grilled by Abbie Chatfield’s protective uncle during tense hometown visit

Matt Agnew met Abbie Chatfield’s family during a hometown visit in Brisbane on Thursday night’s episode.

But Abbie’s protective uncle Rob didn’t let the 32-year-old astrophysicist have an easy ride and pulled him aside for a private chat.

Uncle Rob didn’t beat around the bush, bluntly asking Matt: ‘Abbie obviously really likes you. Really likes you a lot. Why? What makes you so special?’

Matt, who is normally calm and collected, was baffled by Uncle Rob’s question and took some time to think of answer.

‘There’s nothing special, I guess, so to speak, about me compared to anyone else,’  the suitor replied.

‘The spark that we had from meeting has grown every time we’ve got to spend time together.’

Gutsy: In a bold move to win over the uncle, Matt then opened up: 'I certainly don't wanna hurt anyone. It's finding what brings the most happiness to us together, as a couple.'

‘Not as much as I’d like, but, yeah, I guess it’s part of the process, is that my time does get spread quite thin,’ Matt answered.

Uncle Rob then slammed The Bachelor process: ‘It’s a very, very odd way to progress through a relationship, extremely odd, and potentially terrible for our Abbie.’

‘I suppose it’s a bit of an ego question, to find out what he thought people might see in him. He was very humble, he was well spoken,’ he said in an aside interview.
