Avengers star Karen Gillan celebrates birthday with throwback clip from first horror film

Avengers and Jumanji star Karen Gillan celebrated her 34th birthday with a throwback clip from her ” directorial debut ” – a horror film which she made when she was just 13.

And Karen revealed she had a gory sense of creativity from an early age as she murdered her own dad in one of the scenes about a child killer.

Karen, whose famous friends had all wished her a happy birthday, posted the found footage on her Instagram page.

She told her followers: “To celebrate my birthday I thought I’d share this little teaser for a horror film I made when I was 13 years old. My real directorial debut.”

“I made my dad act in the film and made @donnatello876 my trusty camera operator. I will post the full video if I can get my Dad to agree to let me share. For some BAFFLING reason he seems reluctant for people to see it…”

The Inverness born actress added: “Featuring some of the worst acting you’ll ever see but some of the BEST wallpaper you’ll ever clap eyes on. Swipe for the gruesome ending.

“Thinking about submitting this to @sundanceorg. You think it’ll get in? Enjoy. Try not to get too scared. #daddydaddydaddy.”

Karen, who recently finished Netflix movie Gunpowder Milkshake, hit the headlines for her other directorial debut in 2018 when she made the film The Party’s Just Beginning, which she wrote and also starred in.

It told the story of Liusaidh, who is badly affected by her friend’s suicide.

Her movie making friends were impressed by her original movie from her early teens, with fellow director Judd Apatow saying: “Happy birthday! I just optioned the story. We shoot the reboot in May.”
