Some concept art for what looks like an Assassin’s Creed game set in China has one fan theorising that it’s a future project.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hasn’t even released yet and one fan on Reddit is already speculating what Ubisoft has planned for the series afterwards.

This has come about due to some Assassin’s Creed concept art that has resurfaced online, which appears to be of a game set in China.

The art is a couple years old, but it is most definitely related to Assassin’s Creed, partly because of the recognisable hoods two of the characters are wearing, but also because the art was posted on Ubisoft artist John Bigorgne’s ArtStation account.

The Reddit user, nstav13, adds that both it and this piece of concept art (which is clearly for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) share similar naming conventions, as they are listed as john-bigorgne-siege-metropolis-04-b.jpg and michele-nucera-assassincreedragnarok-bay-09.jpg respectively.

The assumption is that Ubisoft was working on a new Assassin’s Creed set in China at one point, but the fan is convinced that Ubisoft intends on returning to it in the future.

Their theory is that it won’t be the next game, though, which they claim will take place during the Black Plague, followed by a title set in China during the Yuan dynasty, the time of Kublai Khan.

If this does happen, it wouldn’t be the first game to take place in China. In 2015, Ubisoft released 2.5D platformer Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, though that was part of a sub-series of download-only games and not a main instalment.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on 17 November. It will release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
