Asia Cup 2021: PCB says the tournament can be shifted to 2023 due to commitments- Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is not in favour of the Asia Cup in 2021, as per a media report. PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has told the PSL franchise owners that they are not in favour of the Asia Cup 2021 T20 event this year. Speaking to the PTI, a PCB source said that Mani conveyed the information to Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) franchises in a virtual meeting on Thursday. PCB had earlier set the June window for conducting PSL 2021 remaining matches.

The decision by PCB comes days after PSL 2021 remaining matches dates collided with Asia Cup 2021.

“Ehsan Mani made it clear that there was little possibility of the tournament being held this year and it would be moved to 2023 due to the commitments of the participating teams,” the source added.

The PSL 2021 was postponed after 14 of 34 matches as seven members including players tested COVID-19 positive.

The Source further added that the two franchise owners also insisted that the event can be held in April and the PCB should put pressure on South Africa to reschedule Pakistan’s tour in April.

“But the PCB chairman made it clear they could not do this as they had good relations with CSA which had supported Pakistan cricket by sending its full test team to Pakistan in February.”
