Ashley Cain has confessed that he hasn’t trimmed his beard since the tragic death of his daughter as the tot used to love playing with it.

Baby Azaylia sadly passed away in April at just eight months old after a battle with leukaemia.

The youngster’s story captured the hearts of the public after she was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease at eight weeks old.

Now Ashley, 31, has revealed that he doesn’t plan on shaving his beard any time soon as it brings back happy memories of his time with his child.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday night, the reality TV star said people had asked him why he doesn’t shave his beard.

He shared a sweet video of baby Azaylia in hospital playing with his facial hair as she pulled it with her hands and pushed it with her feet.

He wrote alongside the clip: “A lot of people have been asking why I don’t shave my beard off? – If you watch this video you’ll see how much my daughter loved playing with it and I haven’t touched or trimmed it since she did.

“It means a lot to me because I still have the hair on my face that she used to love to hold onto and grapple with so much. It is something she held, it is something I cherish, it is the lions mane and like Samson, it is something that gives me strength.”

He continued: “I am so happy I have all of these beautiful memories of azaylia to look back on even though they hurt and bring tears to my eyes every time. They make me grateful that I was privileged enough to love her, be loved by her and to have spent every single day of her life by her side.”

Ashley finished the post by saying: “I LOVE YOU.”

Friends and fans of the star were quick to show their support with the likes of influencer Mrs Hinch, athlete Greg Rutherford and former Love Island start Georgia Harrison all leaving positive comments.

Ashley, Safiyya and baby Azaylia

Since Azaylia’s death, Ashley and his partner Safiyya Vorajee have created a foundation in their daughter’s name.

On the website for the non-profit called The Azaylia Foundation, a mission statement reads: “The Azaylia Foundation aims to support families that are fundraising for treatments that may not be readily available on the NHS and provide children with memorable experiences as they fight cancer.”

The landing page for the site includes a video of Ashley and Safiyya reflecting on the loss of Azaylia and their plans to help others.
