Ashley Banjo revealed he was back to work on new choreography this week but joked the ‘political’ routine probably won’t receive as many complaints as the last.

The 32-year-old and his dance troupe Diversity were at the centre of backlash last year after delivering a powerful performance on Britain’s Got Talent featuring references to Black Lives Matter and police brutality.

However, some viewers felt the routine was too ‘political’ for the family show and Ofcom received more than 24,000 complaints before dismissing the case.

Referring to the controversy, Ashley tweeted on Thursday: ‘Right then, time to create some new ‘political’ choreography… Somehow I don’t think this one will get as many complaints though…’

Comedian Rufus Hound was well up for getting involved and joked: ‘If you need someone to iceskate in a big furry Viking hat, I’m free.’

Ashley replied: ‘Call you later…’

Rufus was referring to the shocking US riots yesterday where thousands of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building in a bid to block Joe Biden being confirmed as winner of the presidential election in Congress. Some of the rioters who made it inside the building were dressed as vikings.

Following his tweet, Ashley’s followers begged him to create another powerful performance.

One reacted: ‘Your BGT performance was one of the best choreography routines I have ever seen. Thank you for using your platform to challenge and inspire, you’re a true role model.’

‘Dance is a freedom of expressing one’s self, not your problem if some people have two left feet, or can’t express themselves through music. You were blessed with a talent, from God, you fly like the Black Eagle you were meant to be,’ another agreed.

A Diversity fan added: ‘I loved it and look forward to seeing any dance you produce some people aren’t happy unless they are making a fuss over nothing, big hugs to all the Diversity family.’

Another joked: ‘let’s see who you trigger this time, you never know whatever u achieve will be amazing, i’m in no doubt about it.’
