Arsenal’s hierarchy are willing to pay in excess of £70 million in order to sign Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this month, according to reports.

The Gunners have made the Serbia international one of their top targets with reports claiming that an offer of €55 million (£45.8m) plus Lucas Torreira has been made to Fiorentina.

However, it’s understood that Vlahovic’s representatives have been stalling Arsenal’s approaches and are holding out for a club who are in a better position to immediately win trophies.

Juventus, Inter and Manchester City have all been linked with a move for Vlahovic, who has scored 16 goals in 19 Serie A appearances this season, but Arsenal have registered the strongest interest so far.

According to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal are willing to ‘break the bank’ in order to sign Vlahovic before the end of the January transfer window.

The report claims that the Gunners are keen to complete a deal this month in order to prevent an auction in the summer window when more teams could firm up their interest.

The Gunners, however, will be looking to utilise their positive relationship with Fiorentina, who are also keen to make Torreira’s loan permanent.

Arsenal are also looking to sign a new midfielder this month.

Last week, Mikel Arteta said: ‘Obviously we are going to move, and we are going to look for options, because we are very short.’

Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Juventus’ Arthur Melo are reportedly both on Arsenal’s shortlist.

However, The Athletic reported on Monday that Arsenal are facing difficulty in securing their primary targets as they are important to their clubs.
