Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has given his seal of approval for the club to sign Houssem Aouar. The Arsenal captain is licking his lips at the prospect of having the Frenchman’s service from midfield as Mikel Arteta ups his pursuit of the 22-year-old.
The Gunners have made four signings this summer in the form of Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes, Cedric Soares and Pablo Mari.
Now Arteta has set his sights on Aouar, a signing that could take his midfield to the next level.
The Lyon talisman was integral throughout their Champions League run to the semi-finals and showed his quality in upsets against Juventus and Manchester City.
That encouraged Arsenal to submit an opening offer of £32million for the player, to test the resolve of Lyon.
Aouar was pushed for answers on his future after Lyon drew 1-1 with Lyon earlier this evening.
But he was keen to remain respectful towards his current club. He said: “I will give you an interview after the match but I will not talk about my future”
The former France Under-21 international was then asked whether he would be open to a move to Arsenal, to which he replied: “There are contact with clubs, I don’t know yet. We’ll see what happens in the future.”
Arsenal chief Edu is currently preparing a new bid for their top target, as they look to put Lyon under increased pressure in the coming days.
